The Spring Hill, Tennessee, community is mourning the tragic loss of Amber Graham, 37, who was found dead outside a residence in Cleveland, Ohio, after traveling there with her young daughter to meet a man she had reportedly met through online gaming. Her death has left family members, friends, and loved ones searching for answers as authorities continue their investigation.
According to officials, Graham was reported missing by her mother after she stopped communicating with family members on June 18. Friends said Amber was known for staying in regular contact with her loved ones and coworkers, making her sudden disappearance highly unusual and prompting immediate concern.
Family friend Josh LaCroix said Graham had traveled from Tennessee to Cleveland with her 8-year-old daughter to meet a man she had connected with while playing the online video game Call of Duty through Xbox. Friends initially knew the individual only by the online aliases “Huckleberry” and “Red” before investigators later connected the case to a residence on Bosworth Road in Cleveland.
Authorities said Graham’s daughter was later dropped off unharmed at Cleveland Fire Station 33 on West 117th Street. Fire officials reported that the child had a phone number for her grandmother in Tennessee and was safely placed into the care of authorities while investigators worked to locate her mother.
Following efforts by friends and family to determine Graham’s whereabouts, police conducted a welfare check at the Bosworth Road residence. During the investigation, officers discovered Amber Graham’s body in the backyard of the home. Officials stated that her remains appeared to have been there for several days and were in an advanced state of decomposition.
Investigators also located two other women inside the residence, both of whom were transported to a hospital for medical evaluation. The residence has been linked to Matthew Hensley, whom authorities have identified as a registered sex offender. Investigators noted that the U.S. Marshals Service Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force had previously sought information regarding Hensley after he was accused of failing to register his address following a conviction involving unlawful sexual conduct with a minor.
