The Shreveport community is mourning the tragic loss of Inez Pryor, who died following an electric bicycle crash on Wednesday morning, July 8, 2026. The collision also left another rider critically injured, according to the Shreveport Police Department.
The fatal crash happened at the intersection of Alabama Avenue and Lillian Street, where officers responded to reports of a serious traffic accident involving an electric bicycle and a white 2004 Chevrolet Express van.
When authorities arrived, they found the damaged electric bicycle and two riders suffering from severe injuries in the roadway. Emergency crews with the Shreveport Fire Department provided medical assistance and transported both victims to Ochsner LSU Health for treatment.
Despite efforts by medical personnel, Inez Pryor later succumbed to her injuries. The male rider, who was operating the electric bicycle, remained hospitalized in critical condition with life-threatening injuries. The Caddo Parish Coroner’s Office responded and took custody of Pryor’s remains.
Investigation Into Fatal Collision Continues
According to preliminary findings from the Shreveport Police Crash Investigation Unit, the Chevrolet Express van was traveling eastbound on Lillian Street and had stopped at a posted stop sign before entering the intersection with Alabama Avenue.
Investigators said the van’s driver reported that after entering the intersection, the vehicle was struck near the driver’s-side rear tire by the southbound electric bicycle. Witnesses told police that the two riders were traveling south on Alabama Avenue when the van entered their path, and authorities said those accounts were consistent with the initial investigation.
Police also reported that neither rider was wearing a helmet or protective safety equipment at the time of the crash. Investigators noted that the electric bicycle did not have lights or reflectors, factors that are being reviewed as part of the ongoing investigation.
The driver of the Chevrolet Express remained at the scene after the crash and cooperated with investigators. Authorities said the driver voluntarily submitted to a blood draw at Ochsner LSU Health, with the sample sent to the Northwest Louisiana Crime Lab for analysis.
No citations have been issued at this time. Police said the investigation remains active as detectives continue reviewing evidence, analyzing witness statements, and awaiting laboratory results.
